Similar
to other restricted trekking in Nepal, you can’t go for Kanchenjunga Trek
Without Guide. Trekking in Kanchenjunga can be wild as it passes through some
of the off the beaten trail especially in Kanchenjunga North. Ghunsa is the
major settlement in Kanchenjunga North from where onward toward when trail
passes toward Kambachen and Lhonak trail goes unstable and more prone to
landslide as well. Pangpema that is local name of
Kanchenjunga North Base Camp
offer exotic Kanchenjunga Northern Slope along with Mt. Jannu. Main reason
behind declaring as restricted region for Kanchenjunga is its remoteness and open
border to Tibetan Plateau from certain portion of trail.
Gyabla is settlement of Tibetan Refugee and
there is another village next to Gyabla named Phale where you can buy Tibetan Souvenir
especially hand made beads and carpets. Sele Le Pass Bridge Kanchenjunga North
and Kanchenjunga South. Ramche, i.e. Kanchenjunga South Area offer view of
Oktang Monastery if you can make a little long walk toward Yalung Base Camp. Yamphuding
and Mamangkhe are the major settlement of Kanchenjunga South. Mamangkhe house
some old Limbu Museum too. Here is a link to another blog about
Kanchenjunga Trek
Nepal where I had discussed about some other aspects of trekking in Kanchenjunga
along with Kanchenjunga Trek Without Guide.
